Ok I’m new to this so please be nice as I have seen some snarkeyness to the newbies I have googled etc and I can’t find any cut and dry guides.

I have 3.3u and I have successfully installed the Homebrew Channel and have no issues downloading apps directly from the browser.

I put “backuplauncher0.3_gama” on my sd and ran the cIOS installer and revived error “1017”.

Have I missed a step? What do I need to do to get the loader running?

The more dumbed down the answers the better

ok first off you will have to downgrade to 3.2u(i assume you console is USA since you are in the states) so follow this guide.
http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=112945
once that is done.
google "Custom IOS36 rev 07 installer download" w/out Quotes find a link put installer on sd card in apps/cIOS-installer/ and renale the .dol file boot.dol.
then google "IOS36-64-v1042.wad download" w/out Quotes and find a down load for it put it in the root of your sd card.
then the install should work from the HBC.
downgrading will also allow you to use star fall it can block updates from games and boot into recovery mode by pressing Y to help un-brick your wii if the unthinkable happens.

It is USA.....
under the link you provided, the "Downgrading/Upgrading Firmware Guide" says it's coming soon. I'll try to google it but in case is there any other links you can suggest?

Thank you!

edit: oh i see what you mean do the steps in the guide up to that then download cios downgrader.(you will need wifi to use it!)
use cios downgrader choose 3.2U from the menu let it install and after it is done restart your wii it should be at 3.2u instead of 3.3u and
Google "mii channel installer" and then "wiishop channel installer" install them.
now ypur wii should have both the new mii and wii shop channels and you can install the latest cios to use the backup loaders.
Good luck to you.

Use this tutorial:
http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=112945
^For that URL above, click on it and download the files below "What You Need"
Then look at "Wii Fix Guide"

or try doing it on the computer instead of the homebrew browser or start all over if you've made a mistake >.>,

On computer:
1.Download the zip files from Wiigator's topic of "backup launcher 0.3 gamma"
2.Put your SD card in and create a folder called "apps"
3.Put the folders that came with the download zip file of wiigator's and put them into the folder called "apps"
4.you should now have :
Root of SD---in root of SD---apps---in apps---Backup Launcher 0.3 and cIOS Installer---in them---meta.xml,icon.png(optional),boot.dol
5.Run it without any GC memory card on the Wii

The best way to install it for me is from SD, and not from WiFi
hope this helps!
