Hacking Homebrew channel doesn't read SD card

Hello everybody.

I really don't know what to do.

I installed the homebrew channel using the Twilight Hack. No problem here.
But, when I put the apps folder on my SD card, HBC can't read it :/

It says something like "Loading SD" ,then this disappears and I can just see the bubbles going up.

HBC beta 9, WII 3.1, no GC memcards plugged in, tried with KingMax 128mb SD and Kingston Japan 2Gb SD.

Any ideas?

apps need to have a structure like this SDROOT>APPS>"APPNAME">BOOT.ELF

where boot.elf is the homebrew you want to use, it must be called boot.elf or boot.dol to work

aswell as boot.dol... meta.xml and icon.png should also be present in the directory

and im sure that BOOT.ELF files no longer work under hbc beta 9 without converting them to dol format 1st

if you still have problems loading anything from SD you could always use wiiload to boot applications without the use of the SD card

The xml and icon CAN be in the directory - they don't have to be.

hmmm not for me it aint meta.xml and icon.png must be present (how else would the HBC be able to tell the difference between between each of the applications as the directory name aint used for anything)

and i suppose im wrong about elf files with beta 9 i suppose ... o0o0o let all attack the n00b with the low post count!!!! get your head out of his arse!!

and on a side note this is exactly what pisses me off about this forum you try and help someone out and some prick always has to start shit

the only other thing i can think of is if the SD card is somehow just crap lol, have you a second SD card you could try?

I tried with a crappy KingMax 128 mb which could install the twilight hack just fine.
I also tried with a Kingston 2gb, same problem...

Do you think it could have something to do with the 3.1 Wii system software?

Well, some news, it seems the sd slot on my wii is f*ed up.
I have to press my finger on the sd card for the system to read it correctly.

Which brings me to another question:

- I have to keep my finger pressed on the sd card to open the backup launcher gamma.

Is it ok to remove the card once the game is launched?
Is there any way to install it in internal memory?

There are channel versions of the backup launcher all over the forum, any of those should work. (ocarina codes need an SD card though)

Once the game is loaded, the card isn't needed.

Could always try taping the card in or a little paper padding between the card and the white flap that covers it.
