I've been very busy as or late and today i got some alone time and so today/right now i couldn't decide what console to play on with a big backlog.

a game collector plays the game he or she buys, but im at the stage where i need more storage than time it self.

i need just not hard drive storage but physical room storage to put the games, console and hard drives in.

and what point did we become hoarders and stop becoming game collectors?

I saw an interesting video the other day. In it the guy noted old games used to be cheap, and it was. I would wander around car boot sales and what have you with my token pocket money and do very well for myself. At some point there was a shift, and I am not sure when it actually was*, and people started applying some variation on the theme of high end sports cards and comic collecting to the process, and unlike those (and books) there are not really many reprint sort of avenues to offset things.

*I have struggled to find one, and did not notice it myself as I was busy doing the whole emulation and PC bit (PC gaming was apparently dead at the time but nobody told me and I was having a top notch time of it all).

Anyway I would probably make a slightly different delineation. You are a hoarder if you buy them just because, because you don't have it (a complete set for a console of note, or region thereof, is usually a silly thing to seek) and don't intend to resell/trade on. Myself I mainly go with "games I like or that have a historical significance as far as a gameplay style of mechanic go, be it originator or notable evolution".

Same here tho, my whole living room is basically a game room and i have so much stuff that i rarely can decide on what to play. Actually at the moment looking for a bigger place with a bigger living room and gonna sell this house so i know your pain. I'm actually slimming down my collection sometimes, thursday a guy is coming over to buy my Sony Bravia tv with a ps2 built in for 200 euro's so, it's just sitting here and don't use it anyway since i use my other modded fat ps2 instead. Well if you have stuff like that you can do the same. Let go stuff that you don't use anyway

I tried getting in collecting old games, but I eventually came to realize that I just don't have the space left to hold everything.

These days, I stick to emulators and Steam for playing games. There is something to be said for eschewing the more material and trivial aspects of a game (discs, cases, etc). Damned if I don't miss video game box art of these days, but box art in general has gotten much worse over the years, so I doubt I'm missing much.

So long you have space for eating and sleeping (when you´re a single person in your single household) you´re not more than a collector.

You can bathing/washing and "spend a penny" in your garden or outdoors.:rofl2:

Don´t do this when you are MARRIED or in a PARTNERSHIP !!!!
