Yes, we all know that a color LCD screen, battery, controls, OS development, codec licenses, and integrated control chips are free.
Ohwaitno. That's right, an iPod is a much more complex device than a harddrive.

Ohwell, at least the comparison's still fair because you can do the exact same thing with just an external harddrive that you can do with an ipod, am I right?

I understand your point and in no way see it as mocking, because I meant that more so as a statement of Apple as a company rather than iPods. The typical reason people buy Mac computers/iPods/iPhones/iPads/iAnything is because it's the cool thing.

iPods (specifically, iPod Classic models IMO) are fantastic for portable music playing. The Classics offer the highest storage capacity on the market. I wouldn't bother with anything else besides that and an iPod Touch, and the Touch would need to be a 64GB model for me, which still doesn't hold my library.

For me though, I can't tell you the last time I've used my iPod with headphones; it's stayed in my car for the past year and a half hooked up to the USB port on my stereo. If/when it dies, I'll end up getting a hard drive, and using my phone (Galaxy Nexus) as a music player.

Hope that clarified it a bit.

Edit - btw, I realize I ended up turning this into an Apple fanboii/antifanboii debate thread. I don't plan to derail this thread any further so I'm not going to reply again (Discussion via PM is welcome but I don't see it going anywhere lol)
