No.

Ok first of all, kid we need to know exactly whats on yoru SD card.
Can you pop in your SD card or MicroSD (whichever you use) and put it into your PC (im assuming your using windows)

open up your Command Prompt by going to start and search for "cmd" or using the shortcut WIN+R once you have that open do this simple command

dir X:\ /s >X:\export.txt

Where X = "your SD Drive letter" and provide that to us, that way we can see if your SD has all the proper files.

The file will appear int he Root of your SD card as a Text format and all this containts is the names of the files and folders on your SD card

We've already determined that SafeA9LHInstaller failed after OP misplaced the FIRM payloads to "/luma/payloads" instead of "/a9lh". I assume he closed the lid; FIRM1/2 & SAFE_FIRM apparently do not launch.

well RIP OP's ds, probably closed screen before power off when the installer failed or something, hope you can get it hardmodded tho!
No this reads like its the rare downgrade softbrick. But the cause of that was found nimSM, and should be fixed in the tools - unless OP used old tools.

I think that's right but doesn't add up to being able to boot 2.1 and starting the browser loader and running a9lh installer.

What we says he did and what he actually did could be different, im just curious to know if theres just a mispelling somewhere thats causing it not to load at all.

Something doesn't seem right to me. How can you load Luma config as a payload before boot if you don't have A9LH already? If you press start without selecting any options then it should be as simple as holding select on boot to select them, then continue. Also, even IF your payloads aren't in the correct folder and you get the FIRM mismatch, all you have to do is turn off the console, take out the SD, put them in the right place and do it again. (I literally just did the same thing on a N3DSXL, no brick) so I'm assuming he did something else in between these "occurrences".

nah, im just getting him an 2ds
Like @el_gonz87 said, why get him a 2ds when you broke his New 3DS?

Just save up for a hardmod. I'm sure it will be cheaper than buying him a 2ds. And if it isn't, wouldn't you like to pay $60-$70 (Up to $10 more) and keep your brother more happy? I'm sure he would like his New 3DS in working condition.

Your parents may be more happy, as well. And you will still be able to easily hack it with no worries of bricking whilst in the process.

I know, right?
I'm so late to this thread but reading it is very. Confusing lol half of the time I didn't know what was going until explained posts basically detailed what most likely happened and I understood. Still like glacieon said I've never seen that level of messing up.
