hello there i have encountered a small issue after following the guide on 3ds hacks my console successfully installed b9s but did not reboot into luma config i had the proper files required on the root of the sd as the guide said but any attemtps to boot the ds with or with out the sd card inside have resulted in a turn on turn off with thr powerlight which to me seems to be a bricked system any help would be appreiacted it was a new 3ds xl running 1.13

B9S is not finding a valid boot.firm file on the SD (and not on CTRNAND since you never got the chance to complete the guide).

Check your SD – and also try a different FAT32 formatted SD containing nothing but boot.firm (Luma3DS)
  1. Copy all your data from the SD to a computer. Reformat the SD to FAT32, 32kb cluster size, if bigger than 32GB and using Windows with guiformat.
  2. Check your SD Windows, Linux, OS X.
    • If you get any errors replace the SD.
    • If you get no errors copy your files back on the SD.

Sd was tested with h2testw before hand and formatted with the hpformat tool

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Just tried on a 64 gig microsd a 128 and a 32 gig with no luck

Hmmhm. To rule out any bad formatting issues:

Theoretically it could be contact problems or a failed reader as well (would be an unfortunate coincidence if the reader failed in that moment).

To make sure it is B9S shutting down and not a hardware problem:
  • The blue LED fades off when B9S shuts down
  • Nothing can be heard

On disconnected essential hardware (bad ribbon cable):
  • LED turns off immediately
  • Sometime there is a popping noise from the speakers
  • Sometimes one or both screens flash briefly when the system shuts down abruptly

Other than that I have no idea what this could be.

The blue led lights up for like a second then turns back off which indicates b9s shutting off to me

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

So apparently kicking it works

For the sake of completeness try other payloads as well (each one renamed to boot.firm of course)
  • GodMode9
  • older Luma3DS (v9.1)
  • SafeB9SInstaller
Please try a small micro-SD (like the 4GB that came with the N3DSXL) and do the quadruple reformat on that.

If it still does not boot despite a valid boot.firm being present on a known good SD this leaves:
  • Issues with the reader (would be a strange coincidence)
– or –
  • Something I don't know (maybe software problem I've never heard of)

I would try ntrboot(ing) into GodMode9 if this was my console. This bypasses the installed B9S altogether.
================

Sorry for the vague ideas – but I'm at a loss here.

Ngl it works now dunno how long but I just kicked it and it works so I think it's a hardware issue
Okay good.

Didn't see this earlier. This is the most important thing now to make sure SD(reader) issues don't make the console a useless brick:
https://3ds.hacks.guide/finalizing-setup#section-vi---ctrnand-luma3ds

Once the N3DSXL can boot without SD (after that part of the guide) it should not happen again – if it does this is because of not finding essential hardware (screen backlights, loudspeaker cable). If any connection is loose, any cable and/or connector damaged this can happen.

Good luck and have fun!
