Hi everyone!

So my nephew got a Wii U that came modded with something called "iosuhax", the thing is that it doesn't have the homebrew launcher, or the wup installer and I can't use the browser because everytime i open it appears a screen with the "iosuhax" and it boots to the wii u menu. So i can't install backups or install tiramisu or access to the homebrew launcher. I tried with a lot of combinations when turning the console on to see if i can go to some menu, but no luck there. Also there is an app called "Ulauncher", searching a little i assume that is the app that the old owner used to access the homebrew launcher but i can't use it because it says that it needs the nintendo account that purchased the app.
My best bet is to factory reset and start from scratch, but i'm not confident enough due to the bricks that i read and my lack of knowledge of this "iosuhax" and what method was used to mod this WiiU.

Any advice or help is greatly appreciated.

What do you mean by everytime I open it?

Try launching miimaker and see what happens. If it's hacked, doesn't that lead to a special menu?

Already tried that to check what kind of exploit it has but it does nothing, the health and safety app also does nothing.

The only things that caught my attention are the web browser that goes to the menu and the "ulauncher" app.

Also, the games can be opened without problems, it is not necessary to open the web browser or run any exploit.

I'm not sure what a fw.img is, but there are several of them in the nand. the one on your sd card is for a hack. you may be going into rednand or regular nand, it's hard to say. I know the vwii doesn't work in rednand, so you could test that. you could see what happens if you delete the fw.img (back it up just in case), then try the browser.

Got it, I'm gonna test it and reply with the results, thank you very much.

Also, another question, can you tell from that info If is risky to factory reset the console without bricking it? So that way I can just start over and install tiramisu.

If it's cold boot on, shouldn't his firmware read 9.99.99? what firmware does it say you are on?

yes, but the easiest way to check is if it has "autobooting" at boot up. I doubt he's using cbhc if he's using the old ass iosu hack with fw.img. I don't know what ulauncher is.

Yes, it has all the signs that whoever hacked it just followed a YouTube video. I hacked mine with tiramisu following the guide at wiiu.hacks.guide without problems. But this console has me questioning a lot of things.

try connecting the sd card to the pc, then going into disk management. do you see a chunk of unallocated space?

I'm supposed to go to my nephew's house this weekend, so I'm gonna try all the suggestions and report back those days, hopefully we get it solved that same day. Thank you very very much
