My brothers and I grew up eating McDonald's (and other fast food in general) and we loved it. We continued to eat fast food throughout high school, but then my brother got a job at McDonald's and he vowed never to eat fast food ever again. I guess after seeing how it's prepared, how employees don't wash their hands after using the restroom, how the managers tell you to put a burger back on the grill even if it falls on the floor because "the heat will kill the germs anyway," he decided he'd had enough of it. A science project once turned up results showing that
fast food ice contains E. coli (fecal bacteria). My brother hasn't eaten fast food for several years, and is even weary of eating out at restaurants. I still eat fast food, but only once about every 1-2 months.

Some of the most brilliant people I know have worked at a fast food chain at one point. They say that no matter what happens, orders are bound to get screwed up somewhere along the line. When that happens, you really should just go back in, show them the receipt and politely ask for the right item. That may mean that they'll have to make a new one for you and it will take longer, but at least you'll know that your food hasn't been sitting under a heating lamp for an hour just waiting to get ordered.
On another note, if you want hot fries guaranteed, order them with no salt. They always salt their fries, so if you ask for no salt, they have to make a new batch. When you get to the pick-up window, just ask for salt and salt it yourself
