I do know that this project is VERY old... but i do want to try it out.

Where can I get more information on this project? And whenever I try to run it on my NDSL, it asks me for a user and password. How can I bypass this?

Info

What else do I need to know in order to make this homebrew run properly? Thanks in advance.

  • root password for DSLinux builds since Jun 28 2005 is "uClinux" (case sensitive!)

Is there any way to make it run a "desktop"?
No. The DS isn't powerful enough to support a Desktop Environment.
Apparently it can run "nano-x": http://www.microwindows.org/

If it's asking for a username/password, you're using the wrong build. The .nds build has the essentials needed to boot, but not much else. The DLDI build has all the actual programs that make DSLinux even somewhat usable.

The best you can to do to make it the most usable is to use the "screen" command to take control of a remote Linux computer. I have absolutely zero experience in the field, other than knowing it's possible.

Standalone, you can use DSLinux for its web browsers (Retawq and Links and graphical Links (links -g http://someURL.com)) and its text editors (vi and nano).
