Hacking Help with DQ5 Hex Editor

How do you pass the boat piracy thing with hex editor? I've been reading through various methods of doing this but none of them have worked so far.

Can someone give me a small walkthrough? Can't find one anywhere

2y ago I hex edited all my Wii roms to remove the innate dithering filter (horizontal lines and dots). I forgot how to. Lol. Pls help.
