I am trying to understand why this flow did not work to install tinfoil on a fresh re-install of my switch.
Running version 15 firmware.

1. Reformatted and partitioned emummc
2. Loaded the latest atmosphere, hekate, etc
3. Booted to custom firmware and through 'AIO updater' downloaded sigpatches from here: sigmapatches.coomer.party/sigpatches.zip
4. Rebooted switch back to cfw
5. Launched HBmenu and attempted to install tinfoil
I received and error and it would not install.

Then I go over here:
1. download the sigpatches: gbatemp.net/attachments/hekate-ams-package3-sigpatches-1-5-0-cfw-16-0-0-zip.355057/
2. Overwrite the folders on my switch with this version
3. Install tinfoil

Everything works just fine...
What am I missing here?

Personally if I am doing a fresh install, I start by formatting my sd card then put on atmosphere and along with Hacku33 in the switch folder and run that so it cleans the nand itself, and then I do the step's you have made, the only difference I use the sig creator tool and generate sig files an go from there, hopefully that helps

Seems one source had their patches up to date and the other did not.

If you get your Sigpatches here…

Sigpatches (GBATemp)

They will be up to date and there are folks you can talk to if there are issues.

Bookmark it…you’ll be glad you did. :-)
never had a problem using that link, used the tutorial by MrDude and created my own too which worked really well too huge kudos

Oh, yeah, that response wasn’t directed to you. :-)

If you can build your own using the tools you are even less dependent upon others to upload stuff for you.

I roll my own too. :-)
