That's definitely hardware failure.
You'll want to send it in for repair. Won't be free unless it's in warranty, but given you bought it at launch and the warranty was likely only 1 year, it will probably be an out of warranty repair and will cost you a bit of money.

That's still much better than having to buy a brand new console, actually I expected it to cost more.
