is it possible to use SaveDataFiler with just cfw.
i want to use PKHex but im unsure if its possible
to get the pokemon save data from my game cart.
i have a legit copy of pokemon x i am using.
anyone have any luck using SaveDataFiler with
just cfw?

edit: im using pastacfw 4.5 with rxEmunand 8.1

For your retail game (Pokemon X ?), you can just install SaveDataFiler.cia in Pasta, and use it with your Retail Game.

whenever i launch SaveDataFiler.cia i get a 'SD card was removed" error

edit: i dont have a gateway, i've used only SD card

Savedatafiler is a Nintendo cia and cannot be distributed on this site

It works with roms of the games for sure, I'm not sure about .cias though.

also when i tried it myself yesterday i kept getting a black screen upon loading an imported save file, had to delete and start a new game.

I believe you can extract retail cart saves using NTR CFW; unfortunately, I don't have CN or any of the Pokemon games with me at the moment, so I can't test it.

I have succesfully extracted, edited and re-injected an AlphaSapphire save (on Sky3DS, so it's the same thing for retail game)

well as i said, i tried it with 4 different pokemon retail cart games and it didn't work with any. i didn't edit them, maybe the editing fixes the savefiles somehow?

Yes ，savedatafiler does work with pokemon retail cards，but never on Gateway。
you need pasta CFW with higher sysnand

Need I explain why? To use savedatafiler,you need get signature patch,
but the gateway mode with signature patch which is called gateway mode can't work with retail card.
And the classic mode doesn't have signature patch

If the imported savedate has been used with a higher system ,the data error will also happen.
savedata encrypted on a higher system,then can’t be decrypted by lower system.

nope, removed it on 9.2, put it back a few hours later. black screen on load. 0 alterations in between. both times i was in pastamode. i don't even own a gateway card.

Grab the Gateway launcher and use that. It will allow you to extract your save. As for putting it in a .CIA, I'm unsure.
