Help recovering old save file(s)

Hello everyone, I am sorry if this thread has been posted before in a similar context by someone else, but everyone seems to get different results, so I thought of sharing my problem.

I have an R4 where I played Pokemon Heartgold with a save file that I created back in 2016 (apparently).

The issue is, that it doesn't have the play hours that I know it should have. This is the game I played the most during my teenage years, but when I load the save file it says 0 hours. And I can vaguely recall that I did overwrite the save file (my friend and I wanted to restart at the same time, and I didn't make a backup... thinking I would have outdone my previous save file). Now, I don't remember if I made a backup of the original save file, I assume I didn't.

Is there a way of recovering such save file? Maybe recovering the version of it closer to 2016? For example, if I played on September 7 2017, and saved, is there a way I can find such version of the file?

Using the 'Previous Versions' property shows nothing

I tried using Recurva, which is what made me find those files in the first place (the ROM and the SAV)

However that doesn't fix my issue, I want to find an older version of the save file, please let me know if that's possible.

you're out of luck, because the data in the save file itself is wiped when you start a new file, and storage medium isnt going to just remember past versions of a file on its own
