Question: Going from a softmod (CIOSCORP+Preloader) to directly installing a modchip without uninstalling anything else, would this still cause the 001/002 error? Im sure backups would be run at 6X speed.

Depends on your modchip, the 001 one error only existed for older modchips and was quickly patched by the makers and doesn't happen on newer modchips. The 002 could be fixed for modchips by installing the necessary ios's(IOS55 and IOS53).

002 error is some kind of disc channel detection. As far as i understood you always need a 002 fix if you run one of these games from a loader, even if it's an original.

You bought the modification from a shop. So they gave you an invoice. And on the invoice you can read, what chip they built in.
