Homebrew Help installing hombrew

Hello... I just god a regular 3ds not the new one and not the XL.
I have google and googled trying to find how I can install homebrew on this system.
I have not got a clear answer with all the terms used I only found more confusion.
So my question is. How can I install hombrew on this 3ds also the system says it is on 9.6.0-24u.
I'm only looking to safely add homebrew and make my own themes for the 3ds I don't care about free games or any applications except for the ones I will need to make themes
