Hello!
Like the title describes I've been very fascinated with mods and would like to eventually turn some of my own ideas into reality. However, as I am a beginner in electrical engineering, I'm a bit lost on crossing the line from general engineering and applying it to consoles.
Like for example, how exactly do screen mods work?
I have general concepts through research, like using an FPGA or CLPD to translate pixel data, but how do you start that process. How is pixel data even read in the first place to then be translated? I believe I can tackle some of the later steps through more research but I am struggling to find a foothold at the start.
I realize I'm probably punching higher than my current knowledge allows, so any advice or resources of how to learn more in regards to console modding on a practical level is greatly appreciated!
