Gaming Help! (Dragon Quest Monsters Joker)

Ok I'm usually really good at these games (RPGs), but somehow with this particular game for some reason I ended up being horribly underleveled and I also have crappy monsters. I'm currently in the part where you fight the Great Dragon, I've already lost to it once, and I was wondering if anyone knows a good place to grind and also which monsters should I try to scout?

I forget which island is the great dragon the boss?honestly I usually just psycho up and apply omph(if I can) and if you can stay alive long enough they usually die after the first hit or two.....
