Hi - I've bought a wii that has the homebrew channel installed (CBHC) but unfortunately, maybe understandably, the previous owner deleted all content. Including (I assume) the necessary game for haxchi, if I understand the process correctly.

For those more familiar - any way to get this working in this situation? What's my best option for a wii that has it already done but might be missing the NDS game? Is there a way to redo this where I can buy the title after the fact and redo some part of the process to mend the situation?

Currently when I try to launch loadiine from the channel, it flashes blue and fades to black repeatedly. If I launch it from within the homebrew channel, it does some sort of stack dump.

Thanks for any help you can provide. I'm a total noob other than having skimmed the process.

If previous owner deleted the hacked exploited game the console would be bricked

The previous owner maybe had everything installed to their usb but your cbhc icon may be at the end of the menu out of site, in a folder perhaps? It will say do no not touch me and has a red triangle warning sign

If you're able to enter the homebrew channel (and you're not using a browser hack to do so), then you're running CFW. That means you successfully ran Haxchi or CBHC.

Is there a reason you're using Loadiine?

the loadiine elf should go here for the channel: wiiu\apps\loadiine_gx2\loadine_gx2.elf
the screen is supposed to flash blue once iirc to know that it's loading.

Thanks, yes, it's there. It flashes blue repeatedly, seems to be stuck in a loop.

Yes, I see it. And I didn't touch it. ;)

Yes, just attempting to load a backup game.

When the wii starts, it has a cbhc screen that says DS Title 10198C00, which seems to be for Big Brain Academy. As far as I can tell, that is not on the Wii (although maybe I'm not looking in the right place if it's supposed to brick without it). How can I verify this is in place? thx

WUP installation, not Loadiine, is recommended for loading backups.

What version number is displayed in the Wii U system settings? Do you have any DS games im the system settings data management screen?

I think you have to use a certain loadiine version. here's the one that works for me:

Your console is autobooting to cfw when you switch it on. The do not touch icon also proves that all is well as that IS your big brain academy now. Everytime your wii u boots now, its booting to that game which has been modified to be your system menu. Easiest explanation..... Further reading can be sought in its own thread!

You just need to add wup installer gx2 to your sd card in order to access it from hbl and install games. Games are got from usb helper and the likes and are in wup format. Loadiine has a different format that will consist of 3 folders, meta, content and code if i remember correctly.

The obvs preferred location to install games to is usb, just so not to upset your nand in anyway but if you have enough space you could try installing to nand. I have done many times but this does come with a big warning.... Your own risk yada yada!!

    Thanks - very helpful info.

The version of Loadiine that was on here in the initial state I got the console would just turn blue and freeze, so I tried updating to the latest. (version on originally seemed to be a couple back) And the latest flashes blue to black as I said.

I connected to wifi - anything else necessary for Loadiine to work? I'll try this version you attached, thanks.

Yes I see WUP installer on here as well, and will investigate. I had a game in loadiine format that was pretty small, and so just dropped it on the SD card for testing - it's formatted with the 3 folders as you said and seems to be named appropriately in the folder.

I know I can change the loadiine game path in the cfg, and have a usb drive meant for this that I was going to set up later, so will plan to move to that once I get a successful load.

I'll find a wup game for testing as well and try that route, or perhaps I can make one somehow from a disc I have on hand?

    >>Do you have any DS games im the system settings data management screen? Any DS games?<<

My system version shows 99.99.99 U. DS games - do you mean from the eshop? I've not connected or made an account yet. none that I know of, although there's a couple "channel" games installed here from prev owner that I see - minecraft story mode and "injustice: gods among us" (are those "DS" games?)

Starting to get the feeling all of the ingredients are there, I just need to know what to do with them! Again thanks for the ideas and hand holding here!

spoofed means it's either haxchi or cbhc, so you're using cfw. mocha I think spoofs, but it will show the actual firmware instead of 99.99.99.

Tried the attached ver of Loadiine. It does take a step forward, and launches both from the channel button and also successfully within the homebrew channel/load app. In both cases, it gets past the blue/black flash and into the game launch menu, but won't load the game. I'll find a different title to test and make sure it's not the game.

I deleted only the artwork. you need to make sure the games are in code/content/meta format to play them.

yep, got it. it's in the /games folder, in a game [ID] folder and then the 3 you mentioned inside, so seems correct. Will keep trying.

that should be right. what happened? the id is very important. you can get it from the meta.xml. it's the product code (4 digits) + last two of company code.

btw, that six digit code is the serial number. loadiine requires it. let me make sure games work on my end. I'll edit this post if they do or don't.

    they work. lunar knights:

    20200903_193730_HDR.jpg

remember: loading from sd card is much, much slower than an hdd, so it may take minutes for the game to load from a black screen. this one took one or two minutes.

It seemed to flash "loading game" for a split second and then just returned to the same menu entry.

Had a look at the meta.xml in the game and yes the code in the xml seems to match what's on the top level folder folder anyway.

Tried another title and it worked! So, will play with it some more later but does seem to be functional - might have just been a bad copy on the first go around or something. Thanks for the help there.

Next I'll try to figure out what all of this WUP and DS stuff is about, and get USB working. :)

I'm playing 3d world at this very moment. I took momentary pause to check a game for you. boy, I love this game. can't wait for the switch version.

btw, one of the buttons will download artwork in loadiine's home menu. not all exists, but a lot does. I think loadiine is still useful for people who like vc. don't try wii u titles as the load times are atrocious.
