hi guys i have a psp slim (2000)
its running firmware 5.55 and seems to be a TA-085v2 mother board i would like to know how to get CFW running on it please guys as the laser assembly is buggered and wont read disks, so would like to get iso running and homebrew instead

any help with what and how please guys would be great

right so time to find a uk supplier of pandora battery and magic card

then i downgrade 5.03 then run Chickhen R2 and install XGEN 5.50 GEN-D3 is that correct or do i have to install version 5.00 first

If you are going to use a pandora then just make a magic memory stick and install the cfw that way. I used rain's mms maker to put 5.00 m33 then I used the xgen updater to get to 5.50 gen B2 then use the gen D3 updater to get it as cfw. Hope that helps in some way.

Ultimately the decision of final firmware is up to you. At the moment GEN firmware vs M33 is an argument waiting to happen and people will offer arguments for each side...that sentence saying M33 is very outdated is pretty nonsensical when it's not really much different. If you want a more noob friendly firmware to start with then 5.50 GEN D Final is the way to go.

Since you're using a Pandora MMS combo you're not downgrading but installing a CFW directly. I don't use GEN myself so i can't adequately tell you what apps will directly install GEN for you but i'd guess that DJB's Pandora Deluxe MMS tool will allow you to install GEN directly. Otherwise just flash M33 as instructed in the sticky here and then upgrade to GEN afterwards.

okay this has just been released today so can i just install this or do i still need the whole pandora thingy

Hey folks.

Here's a long promised Firmware-Pack (AddOn) for Recovery Flasher.

With this you can install 5.50-GEN-D3 directely with Recovery Flasher, no more need to first flash a M33 and then run the GEN installer, just hop directely to GEN - for those who want to.

Using is kinda easy, pick the .RFP file from the archive matching your PSP and copy it alongside the 550.PBP onto the root of your memstick.
In Recovery Flasher select "load from external FW pack" on the version selection, choose the Pack and off you go, it'll install the GEN then.

Needs Recovery Flasher 1.60.

No...you still need "the whole pandora thingy"

cool well i ordered the battery and magic card so will let you know how it goes guys, i will use pandora battery to just flash latest gen firmware im guessing thats doable and i dont have to downgrade to version 5 just to update to version 5.50.

if im wrong please let me know

XGEN Pandora is not able to be installed via PC as a MMS.

You'll need Despartsomething de Celemtsomething v8... Just get http://pspslimhacks.com/rains-ultralite-mm...-for-500-m33-4/

And then upgrade if you want, to GEN 5.50-D3.
Really, all this cfw what is simpler is all BS.
M33 is for homebrew enthusiasts (Who will be patiently waiting for Open Idea CFW...)
While GEN is for backup enthusiasts.

It's really up to you but i recommend to keep MMS so you can switch to M33 anytime while having GEN installed as a cfw or something.

Just checked - i was right, the latest Pandora Deluxe MMS tool has XGEN on the install list so if you make your MMS with that GUI you'll be able to update to whichever firmware you want GEN or M33. Then if you want to get to the latest GEN you just need to run the XGEN 550 D3 Final.
