Gaming Heard this before? Pokemon Platinum

Hi.
I have a USA copy of Pokemon Platinum.
When i bought it from eBay the seller never stated that is was USA. From what i can tell the Game is genuine (not unless its a very excellent copy.). The cover is genuine, so is the cart. But saving the game is taking two minutes.
I bought it from ebay.
Does Pokemon Platinum have saving issues because from what i have read on the internet this is a very common problem (or there are some very gullible people out there buying bootleg copies inluding me!.)
I can't return it to the seller as he is ignoring e-mails and i paid by personal cheque so i'm not covered by PayPal (Because i don't have PayPal. ooooppps!)

My genuine Australian game takes up to one minute to save "a lot of data" but never as long as two minutes.
