I personally want someone to kickstart a HDMI out from 3DS. All the mod I seen with 3DS involves USB out, which is PC and software dependent.

A GameCube and Gameboy Player can be purchased for.. $20 or $30 maybe.

Add in one of these controllers, for under $10, and you're pretty much set.

Granted it's not HD and doesn't have an HDMI port, but the quality is very good, and you get Gameboy Advance support.

Amazon has a few composite HDMI upscalers for around $20.

TV will do a better job of upscaling than those good for nothing scaler. Unless your TV does not have composite input avoid them.

I'd argue that Game Boy Player is slightly better. No Super Game Boy borders or palettes, but you can run it through component and it plays GBC/GBA games as well. Either way, they're both far cheaper and arguably better choices than a modded Game Boy.
