HDmyboy is a new device that upgrades the original Gameboy, and allows one to connect it to an HD TV, the pixels supposedly aren't upscaled, but rather redrawn. there's a video showing the device fully working, though the developers are still gathering funds through kickstarter for mass production. Check out further details here:

This seems like a heavily vanity device. Get any device that connect to the TV, use an emulator, same thing.

I feel like just buying Raspberry Pi would be cheaper and easier to use.

I don't like to emulate handhelds on anything but a handheld because it looks terrible with increased size.

You are not the market for such a thing, honestly.

Obviously. That's pretty much what the vanity of ownership implies. However, if this is something found useful in any regard (especially with the amount of basic filters that can be applied over a Gameboy emulator) then that's a whole different battle for a peculiar person.

What is the difference if the source material is raster graphics to begin with?

My thoughts exactly. Rather than a video, they should've made a pic-by-pic comparison (gameboy vs HDmyboy). That way, it may get some customers.

...Okay, I'm not entirely fair on that last one. that should be: "it may get some customers who aren't currently living under rocks". Because who knows...perhaps there are still people out there who DO still have their original gameboy but somehow never heard of emulators.

I still have my original gameboy from 1990, as well as two more I combined together to make a FrankenBoy.

And you never heard of emulators? Because in case you missed some previous posts: there are already plenty of ways to play gameboy games on your HD television. Not legal (obtaining the roms isn't hard but not legal), but it wouldn't surprise me if it was already possible to do that already.

That doesn't look like HD to me. It's just pixel doubling.

You made a DS Game Boy? :P

Any emulator made after, maybe, 2009 should have a 2xBR filter (and even 4xBR) and would produce the same if not better results than this.

I use emulators of course, but I was just stating I still have my childhood Gameboy, and I'm 31 now. I don't own an HDTV, but I do play my Gameboy games on my Nvidia Shield, PSP, android phone, 2DS (R4i cart), and Wii.

Gameboy Advance clones offered more advance features than this in my opinion

Honestly this does not interest me. I don't see any advantage with this device over hooking up an HTPC running GB/GBC emulator to TV.

It's purely for the sake of vanity. I doubt they made this with the sole intention to sell it to people who already have access to emulators and the entire Gameboy catalog. I like to think it's just for those people who want to say they have this.
