Hacking HDD on a GameCube

Wouldn't it be possible to make the Wii believe an HDD is an SD Card by wiring together the rights SD and USB pins ?

Maybe, but the maximum capacity would most likely be 4 gig, as that's what's the maximum capacity is on SD cards. So kinda useless.

Kinda like on the 360. You can switch the HDD, but the 360's gonna lock it at 20 gigs.

SD cards will go up to 32GB I think

No it doesnt quite work like that. Plus the system restricts the sd card to 2gb. The connection doesnt work that way either, SD and usb are way too different.

I know that they go higher than 4 gigs, but the wii only accepts SD cards that are up to 4 gigs big. Or maybe it's even 2.

Well you could always set up a banking method, it would really be nothing more than a glorified CD multichanger though and you would need some devices in the middle.

A DVD to HD interface was done a few years ago. I'm sure a computer science degree, a xilinx spartan III development board and a load of time could do the same for the sd slot on the wii...
