So it happened (before I had time to set up UStealth), my daughter formated my HDD for Wii mode. Good that I have the data all on a backup HDD. Now I want to reformat the HDD on Windows, but the HDD isn't shown in the Windows explorer. I here the sound that hardware is found, but the drive doesn't show up.

Is this normal because the Wii U formated the HDD? How can I format it again?

It's probably available in the computer's disk management. the place where you see the partitions. (I don't know how it's named in english, even less in German)

the drive doesn't have a partition table anymore, so it's not recognized by Windows' Drive letter assignment process. (it requires partition(s) to assign letters and display it in explorer).

Go to Administrative Tools (hidden by default), then Computer Management. If you are using Windows 7 (might work in Windows 8), right-click your Computer and click Manage.

You can use the Disk Management here to reformat the HDD.
