Hello! I have a Switch with FW 9.0.1 and Atmosphere with a version prior to November 2019. I say this because I bought the Switched hacked, so I'm a noob. For more info: It came with the RMC loader dongle, Tinfoil installer and the HBG shop ( as well as incognito, goldleaf, choi, and other I never used). I've never seen a submenu when turning on my switch, it only loads Atmosphere before taking me to the switch home page.

On Tuesday I was able to download games and dlc from the HBG shop but the next day I didn't see the "new game" list or dlc nor updates. I thought maybe I had to update the HBG shop like last time. Instead of going to the official site to download the newest version and replace the files on the root of the sd card, I decided to use the "Install latest update" option from within the HBG shop app located in the settings ( I think this was my biggest mistake). The process took mere seconds, then I got a pop up saying to update tinfoil, clicked ok and then went to see if I could download games again but nothing had changed. So I went back into the settings and clicked "install latest update" again but it didn't do anything. I exit the HBG shop and try to open it again, but I'm greeted with "Unable to Start Software".

I download the latest HBG shop version from the official website (even tho the tinfoil installer already had 8.1.0, it seems it did in fact update the first time) I unzip the files and move them to the sd card, while clicking yes to overwrite files, I pop the sd card back to the switch. I turn on the Switch, try the HBG shop but I get the same message!

Someone on reddit advised me to delete the HBG shop from the home menu, and reinstall it using the tinfoil installer I have. I do just that, I click on the tinfoil installer, it tries to install the HBG shop. I get 3 pop ups, the last one is an error saying "unable to read nand, would you like to install a custom ....... .kip to proceed?" I click yes and it tells me to reboot for the changes to take effect. I exit and start the tinfoil app twice again but it gives me the same 3 pop ups. I decide to power my switch off completely... but now it wont turn on! The RMC dongle manages to make the Atmosphere logo appear but it automatically turns off now! I messed up, but how badly?

Sorry for the long post!

plz and thx

hmm.....what version of atmosphere did you have? "Atmosphere with a version prior to November 2019" doesnt tell me what version you're on. also i recall something along the lines of "After you install the custom kip, if atmosphere doesnt boot, your version of atmosphere is too old."

I'm not able to turn on the switch anymore, So I couldn't tell you. Unless its possible to find out which version I have by checking the sd card? I've never saw the "After you install the custom kip, if atmosphere doesnt boot, your version of atmosphere is too old." But some people on reddit have said that perhaps Atmosphere is outdated.

someone even gave me this link: /borntohonk/Atmosphere/releases/tag/0.10.4-tinfoil-fork

What do you suggest I do?

Edit github before full link.

ok, go ahead and use that atmosphere, and if it still doesn't boot, well, we will go from there.

Great news! I went to the link I gave you, I deleted both the atmosphere and sept folders (made copies just in case). I moved the new atmosphere, sept, switch files and hbmenu.nro to the sd card and overwrite everything, I also switched the old primary fusee with the new one included in the folder.

The switch was able to turn on now. I checked system settings, AMS 0.10.4/S That should be the current Atmosphere version.

But there is a small problem, the tinfoil app did not switch into the HBG shop. It seems I can download dlc and updates for my current games but finding new games is difficult plus there are other options that i never saw in the HBG shop (dont worry I wont mess with those).

Even tho I have the tinfoil app on the home screen now, once I click it, the HBG shop music starts and the HBG logo appears on the upper left corner of the screen. All new games have Japanese text too.

What do I do from here?

Thanks

try pressing (+) in the new games section , and select by name. if that doesnt work, can you post a screenshot of HBG?

i dont know why i can press (-) in the section, and in places, it doesnt show that i can. i press it anyway.
also: "But now, there is no option for (-), its like its not there anymore." that statement sounds like you didnt try to press the button. if you did, i apologize.
also, when tinfoil is starting up, is there a number around "R22" in the lower right corner?

Thats so odd. And yes! It does show R22 when booting up. What is that? Never seen it before.

ok, so you have the same version of tinfoil that i do. if i can the press the (-) to switch to the cover and back, you should be able to as well.

Do you also have version 8.10?

I found this thread,

/threads/why-doesnt-hbgshop-change-view-option-working.557687/

Put gbatemp.net before link.

It seems this is something new affecting some users of tinfoil.

Btw what happened to the HBG shop? People on reddit are saying it is no longer supported, is that true?

hmmm.......well, it might have something to do with me being a dual-setup, as in i have both sxos and atmosphere?

You're right. There was a reddit post just yesterday about someone asking the same thing. Oh well, at least I got my switch working again. Thank you very much for your help today!

Btw do you know the difference between HBG shop and Tinfoil? Which one is better?

HBG is tinfoil, but with "special" profiles. take those away and they basically equal....

Got it. Now, I regret to inform you that Tinfoil is not showing "new games" or "dlc" list since yesterday. The R22 changed to a R26 btw.

I went ahead and manually updated tinfoil but nothing.

Why does this keep happening?

Edit: someone on reddit was suggesting I mess around with the file browser on tinfoil. I remember missing json pr something.

It keeps happening because you have no idea what you're doing

You can view them because you have a SX OS license on your SD card

Its required for that feature (It wasn't always required but it is now)

If you don't have the license you won't be able to see that view

did anything change? maybe you updated the firmware? if not, you may have to delete and "fresh re-install" /hbg/
