ROM Hack Having trouble making cheats

Alright, I'll start with a basic outline of what I'm working with here:

NDS Lite
AceKard 2 (NOT 2i)
AKAIO v1.5

My current cheat database (and the one I've tried adding to):

USRCHEAT.dat

Alright, now the story.

I spent a couple of hours lurking around the boards here searching for cheats for Yu-Gi-Oh! 2010 (I have both and [j], so I was looking for anything, really). I managed to scrounge up a couple of AR codes for the version, and read up on how to use Yasu's r4cce. I followed all of the directions enclosed in Curley's tutorial, backed up my old USRCHEAT.dat, and then saved the new database into the cheats section of my SD card.

Upon loading everything up, I enabled cheats on the rom properties, before opening the cheats menu. "No DB found" Or something along those lines was what came up. I chose "Select DB", and picked the USRCHEAT I had made, then selected "Rebuild DB". At this point, the entire thing just froze.

I retried the whole process a few times, and searched the boards for the same problem, but if it's here, I missed it somewhere.

Does anyone have any ideas how I could fix this (a usrcheat.dat with yu-gi-oh 2010 cheats already on it would be acceptable too, lol )

EDIT: Attempting to load other game's cheats works just fine. I have to rebuild the .cc in every instance, but there's no sign of freezing with the other games.

Alright, sorted, saved, and attempting again...

No DB found - > Selected usrcheat again -> rebuilding .cc

Alright, it's not frozen (the colon in the clock on the top screen is still flickering), but it's not accepting any input from the buttons or touch screen.

I'll restart the DS and try it again

Same thing is happening. Also noticed that the SD symbol half-obscured by the cheat window is blinking rapidly. I'm letting it sit on that screen.

EDIT: I sorted by Title, if it makes a difference

EDIT2: about 9 minutes later. Still won't accept input.

don't change the order of the game
add the codes
save

replace the existing usrcheat.dat on your sd card
delete all the .cc file

start your ds
select usrcheat.dat as default database
go to the game's cheat menu
if codes doesn't display even after rebuilt then ask yourself is the game patched...
