I have a R4 that I got from a friend in Malaysia, I think it's the korean version, I tried updating the files to see if they worked for the new FFIV game, but now when it starts up I get some message in korean or such with !!! at the top and just sits there, tried installing different versions of the R4 and even formatting, did I screw up with it, or is there some version I should install.

did you install the korean firmware onto the korean kit? some kits have language lockouts for their korean versions that only allow the korean language.
