hide your games but just one copy of the game u want to play.
i did this and had just one game on my G6 but i felt like i'm working when playing that game since i was forced and didnt had much fun, maybe i was getting disciplined.
maybe i try that approach again and say like i connect my flashcart to my pc like when i finish this game or once in a week, so you have chance to continue your loop if you beat the game (which you deserve having another game) or after one week, and i'm like 95% sure that if you dont play that game ina WEEK so you wouldnt in a looong time.
if you agree, maybe we make a topic and share our experiences there.

Oh, I've tried that. I've also tried narrowing down the collection. I'll go through and delete the ones I'll never be interested in. Then I go through the ones I'm somewhat interested in and move them to another folder and or binder. Then with the ones I want to play I pick one to play, and play. However, I end up going to another one and I lose interest in that game. Case and Point: Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation, I "love" the series. However, the more I play it the more bored I grow with it and want to play other games. I think it's a satisfaction level issue... when I know I can go play something else it looses it's appeal.

As long as I'm having fun, I don't dwell on not finishing certain games. However, there are some games that you just can't help but play till the very end and then wish they hadn't ended. For example:

Oh, yes. I might check out the Japanese version just to get a feel for the game, but I cannot wait for this. I'm pretty sure seeing a video of this title in action sealed the deal for me and made me order a DSL.

i deleted all of my ds roms in my G6, just leaving some 5minute games and one serious one and i'm doing it till next Tuesday.
currently:
Yu-Gi-Oh 07 WC, Super Space Monkey, Tetris DS, nesDS, Phoenix Wright 1, Picross.
and on GBA : Castlevania : HoR, SMB1, SMB3.

going this way and forcing yourself to finish a game or not playing it for a month will make you more precise next time you take a game and put it in your 2gigabyte flash disk just "leave it there".

edit: just check my sig, how can someone possibly play Boktai, Castlevania : HoR, Phoenix Wright 1, Advance WarsS, Wario Master of ... .?!
if you think you can, u will probably never finish each of them since each need a good amount of time and focus. IMO.

That's what I do. I play one or two long games like Metroid or Castelvania until they are done. I don't even touch other long form games until I've beaten the previous ones. Then I throw some short play games like Wario Ware or Kirby Canvas Curse in for moments when I just want to screw around or am feeling a little bored of the long adventures. Works great for me. Just enough variety, but I still get invested in the games I really love.

I also never ever ever use save states in emulation unless it is at a point where the game would normally let you save, or I am done playing for the day. Overuse of save states really ruins the feeling of urgency and excitement of a game.

Before I implemented these two rules over-saturation had gotten me so sick of video games I almost stopped playing entirely. Now I'm having more fun with them than I've had in 10 years.
