Hacking Has anyone found a good Media Player ??

Hi all.
I'm on 6.72 and looking for a Media Player...for mp4 movies mainly but mkv would be nce as well.
Has anyone found one that is working well ??

Personally, I'd buy a dedicated media player like the nvidia shield.

I gave up on a useful medial player on the PS4 a long time ago, I use Nova Video Player on Android TV now, amazing app, it scrapes your movies and shows from tmdb and tvdb and categorizes them, it also syncs your watch history with trakt. Never looked back.

Why would you not use VLC though?

legit asking why Nova would be any better (apart from scraping)

Vlc is what I use on the shield. To rename and categorize, I use tv rename. It does list what you're missing which happens sometimes. I download the missing or corrupted episodes with Usenet.

Try Nova and you'll know why

The interface is just amazing and makes your movies and shows look like a real library with posters, backdrops, episode names, descriptions and many more.

No need to rename or categorize anything manually, it just does everything for you, you just sit back, relax and enjoy!

I was under the impression that after jailbreaking, the original Media Player won't work. Is that not true?

There is an fpkg for it and it works, but it sucks compared to the PS3's media player tbh, very basic functionality and seeking sucks, it's more like jumping/skipping rather than seeking...

Yes....I have the Media Player fpkg...think it is v4.01. However, my movies always stop after 17 mins...and then need to restart app. Is there a fix for that ??

Don’t use Mira for a start, it’s unnecessary unless you’re providing kernel logs on the crashing?

That could be an issue.

Ok...so I should be using HEN ?

Update: I tried Hen as well....Leeful's 2.1.3b...and same thing happened. After 17-min, get kicked out to the 'Cannot play the media' screen and have to restart app. And really, it's not the 17-min mark of the movie...its after 17-mins of time...evn if it is paused for 17-min, it will get kicked out. I'm playing an mp4 from a USB external hard drive formatted exFat.

Anyone else had this issue with Media Player ?

Maybe I have a bad version of Media Player?
If I were to find another fpkg and install, would it overwrite this version??

The CUSA for Media Player is CUSA02012 so just google CUSA02012.

The latest release for 6.72 is v4.01 by CyB1K. Install the A0100 pkg first and then install the A0401 pkg
If it says the application is already installed just overwrite it.

I've just started playing an mp4 on this version to test your problem. I'll report back if it plays longer than 17 minutes.

UPDATE: Its been playing for 35 minutes now without any problems.

Did you turn on any of the License stuff in Debug? Also, my PS4 has never been on PSN...would that matter??

Yes I have all the licenses on in debug settings. The PS4 has never been on PSN also so that should not make any difference. My profile is activated but again, this should not make any difference.

Did you find the right pkg's ok?

Ok...haven't found them yet. But think I have a source....will be able to look for them when I get home.

Update: Found a new version from another site and installed. Happy to say it's now working
