Wait... No one mentioned that in the female version you choose to marry a male NPC... Or am I wrong? o.O Never played the female versions since I'm not female. =P

If that's true they were simply lazy to change the partner NPC

Strange that the rom is still not up ... hope it doesn't take as long for this to appear as it did for Lost in Blue 3 to get dumped.

The female versions are always worth playing, because of the bug fixes.

If the next male HM game has the Best Friends system, expect many, many farms to be called Brokeback Farm.

No-one seems to know yet if Natsume has taken the Best Friends system out of the US release, or if they have, if they will also remove it from the European release.

Any news on that score would be greatly appreciated.

i've read from another forum that the best friend heart events are left intact. nothing about the "marriage" part yet.

i hope this gets dumped soon

One theory I had read several times in the past couple of days is that it is still included, just not mentioned in the manual, and such.

Still, no-one who has the retail game seems to have commented on it, but it has only been in US stores since yesterday ... we shall just have to see.

i really don't get it why they make such a big deal out of it. I won't be seeing kids playing this and getting ideas out of their heads because they can "marry" their girl friends rather than getting a husband.

You have to remember that the US is run by homophobic pseudo-Christians, and they could potentially make things difficult for Natsume by twisting the facts over this, and denouncing it as spreading the message that homosexuality is okay ... which it is, but the US government, and the general US populace do not believe it to be so.

Natsume are not Rockstar, and I cannot see them being happy with the thought of being painted as a controversial games developer, by the US media.

Americans are very susceptible to media influence, and many parent would care for either an increased rating on the title, or an out-right ban.

I can see the headlines in the US now, if the Best Friends system became common knowledge ...

"Japanese game promotes homosexuality"
"Gay marriage game"
"Lesbian lust forced on children"
"Concerned parents boycott lesbian game"
"Homosexual game removed from shelves"

It is not about lesbian marriage by the way, it's merely a platonic alternative to marriage, in the game.

i know, hence the quotation marks on "marry," and to add to the "controversy" your best friend can also give you a baby. OMG!

if they kept the option intact in the game without mentioning it in the manual, wouldn't that distress American parents more if their kids "accidentally" find out about it.

"Natsume, secretly teaches kids to be homos"

HM:IoH is already out on the DS in Japan. They made the male character have blonde hair =/ Also, you choose to be either male or female, no alternate versions.

Oh, and I don't think Natsume would bother adding a 'Gay System'. Markets target the majority; the majority of people aren't gay so there's no need for it. It'd also be a huge hassle =P Not worth their profits.

I hope it still has the best friends system still in tact, or else there would be little reason for me to play it, the male candidates are pretty bland.

Another kid who thinks being gay is a bad thing.

Here's some simple math for ya :

More gay guys = more single straight women = better for straight guys
