Does anyone how can I hard reset to default settings a 360 system whilst offline, or must I be 'live' with a created user account (+info stored on hdd)? I know someone that has a system that has never had a live account, and no internet access due to location, and have been playing with the restriction settings. Possibly as a result of an update or hardware issue, it now shows as 'dashboard 2.0.16202.0' and age restrictions are now present which cannot be changed. There are youtube videos for this specific dashboard number stating on the system info screen to press 'LT, RT, X, Y, LB, RB, Down, Down, UP, X' or to use a similar combo for the last 4 buttons, eg:-

Nothing they have tried works so far, and are taken out of the system info menu after hitting that last button (usually X). Some argue it won't work unless they are online or registered, others say the opposite. It is a UK EU model with the above dashboard no, which may be the reason as to why nothing seems to work, since most youtube videos are from US users. If other factors other than country and dashboard also come into it, and if anyone knows what else I should look for other workarounds other than hacking the system I would be grateful of any help. Thanks

IIRC, the 360 parental reset combo isn't universal but different for each system, if you need to reset you have to contact MS to get the code for your specific system (determined by serial number, I guess). It's possible I'm thinking of some other system, but I think it was the 360.

Im betting if I contact ms with the serial they will try and get me to ring one of their premium rate numbers for a code (no chance) but I might give them an email just to find out. These two links show a possible alternative method too of getting around the lock, might try them out:-

Update:- in the end I got the code by contacting them via MS chat, eg
http://support.xbox.com/en-us/contact-us
For anyone interested, click on the 360 in the above link, on 'other', then on 'chat with microsoft support' at the bottom of the page. Tell them you need the code or joypad combination of buttons to press on the 360's 'system info' screen to reset your consoles settings back to default, as you cannot play all games, ie those age certified, or that the system is playing up. If you don't have live, they might push for a live subscription in order to get the code. I refused as it was not for me, and the person that needed it had no internet, so the sub would be wasteful. I told them this, so in the end they gave the code after I gave the console serial, proved that I had an MS account, and registered the console with my own contact info at
https://myservice.xbox.com/en-US/Pages/Welcome.aspx
If they ask for MS account details you might need the mobile phone related to your MS account on hand. They could send you a verification mobile text or email, then give you the 360 code via the microsoft chat window thereafter. If they don't give it I suppose you could simply try recontacting them to talk to another agent that might be more helpful,or using an xbox/microsoft helpline (I found out there are freephone numbers, although they might not be via mobile/cellphone).

Thanks
