It's been 9 years, and now coming on 10, since we have had a proper new 2d zelda game

Do you think we will get a proper 2d zelda game now that nintendo has merged their home console/portable market?

ALBW was a great game, and the oracle games/minishcap were some of the best of the franchise.

What do you guys think? Would be interested to see some sort of zelda 2 spiritual successor

Still waiting for the Oracles to get the Awakening upgrade. How about a Minish Cap 20th in 2 years?
I fear since all three of those are capcom games that might somehow interfere with re-release

But honestly I would rather we get something new than a re-release

minish cap was the last original 2d zelda game (as in not a direct sequel or borrowing setting). ALBW and both DS zeldas borrowed heavily from a previous game

A Link Between Worlds was fantastic. If you're looking for some Zelda 2 content check out Zelda Again: Link is Adventuresome. Amazing updated Z2 game. It's the original game with all kinds of updates, fixes, additions.

I definitely will that sounds pretty interesting

I'd like more 2D style Zelda games but don't know whether it will actually happen. Breath of the Wild was massively successful and seems to be sending the series into a 3D open-world direction. As much as I enjoyed it and will enjoy Tears of the Kingdom, I would prefer a return to form rather than this new format.

inti creates wanted to remake zelda ii. i hope they get the chance.

i just want a followup to the best handheld zelda: tri force heroes

The amount of money and hype 3D Zelda games bring to Nintendo. I hope i we do see a 2D Zelda game again. remakes are the more likely.
I would pay good money for a remake of the Capcom games. Minish cap and the seasons games are god tier

Nintendo's working on the sequel of BotW so we may not see a 2D Zelda for sometime.

I've got my 3DS with all the Zelda games that came out for it, but never played any of them (sorry), I do wanna, though. 3D Zelda games are my favorites to play.

But the 2D games aren't made by the core team

Would love if we got a new 4 Swords adventures for the Switch.

Would also be awesome if we somehow got the 3 CDI games ported to the Switch. Yes I know they are awful but would be easier for me than having to pull my CDI outta the attic every now and then when I want to relive the horrors of them lol.

Also probably in the minority here but I hated the 2 season games. Far to easy gameplay with boring dungeon design and an alright story. Really don't get the love everyone chucks their way.

The seasons games are so good. Maybe it's nostalgia because those are the first games I ever owned and I was 7 at the time - but I had a ton of fun with those. And I still have fun going back and playing them now. I think they are on the same level as Link's Awakening. Also, I really loved all the OoT and MM characters thrown into those games.
