indeed, have modded a pair of joycons with aknes's ones and actually seldom use them, for the following reasons:
1) The tension is too soft
2) joystick-buttons are too soft too (it's a fucking nightmare when they trigger by mistake in the heat of a battle in Zelda games for instance)
3) the coating is not as sticky as the OG ones, so thumbs tend to slide off at the worst moment. I've tried using the covers they provide, They are more of a workaround than an actual solution: they make the joysticks larger, higher, and they tend to slip off anyway (and they are hideous).

I'd like to swap out aknes's HE joysticks for some other thirdparty's HE joysticks that better mimick OG ones. Any advice please?

Hey all, new here. Took the plunge and bought a set of the latest gulikit offering a couple of weeks ago through AKNES' aliexpress site (die to not being able to find the store on Amazon Australia), arrived and fitted last night.

I'm quite happy with them, the tension is actually a touch stiffer than the original sticks, and the caps actually seem to be marginally larger in diameter as well.

Definitely have not found the stick buttons too soft (in my case, the trigger for replacement was that one of my original joycon stick buttons more or less crapped out and wouldn't press properly), and I seem to have gotten the 'good' caps, because Im finding the feel and texture to be the same as the originals, or near enough to.
I did use one of the sets of caps from the different coloured cap box (not the covers, just the caps), because I decided to go with white caps on my white controllers, so that might have had an effect.

My usage so far has been on ToTK, so a decent general workout, definitely no complaints here.
AKNES, do you know if these sticks csn be used on some of the 3rd party controllers as well?
I bought a set of 3rd party controllers as a spare, and one of those already has drift sadly.

interesting feedback thanks. Wouldn't be surprised if AKNES had several chinese suppliers and/or just changed things with minor revisions without communicating (less so marketing) these iterative enhancements. The issue with this kind of lousy way of working is that as a customer you have zero clue what "version" of the product you are buying, and you can bet your ass sellers will prioritize trying to get rid of old (iterations of) the product so it's just a game of luck getting the product with stick stiffness and cap grippiness that both best match that of nintendo products...

While I don’t work for AKNES that’s not how they operate, you are getting the latest product offering through them, they only sell Hallpi sticks or the GuliKit sticks all coming from the Hallpi factory. AliExpress is really a safe place to buy if you pay attention to the store, AKNES also has a discord with a great community. VaalPaev is where I get Ginfull and Favor Union and have always gotten quality products. If you need bulk sticks you can bypass AliExpress and buy in bulk directly from AKNES. I can attest to the fact that no one other than “shopxxxxxx” with random numbers has ever sent me old stock. It’s like any retailer, certain 3rd party sellers will hose you. If you buy direct from factory contacts you’ll get quality products.

I understand your concerns, and in fact I‘’m trying to let users know about the batches we have changed and be as transparent as possible.
At least so far, I have maintained transparency in past batch changes.
Like KK3Max at the time, by clearly indicating the difference between the old and new versions, and offering discounts on the old version (without affecting after-sales service), users can choose freely.
TMR rust issue as well.

Quick update:
Issue has been resolved very quickly by the team at AliExpress, but @AKNES here has also been very quick to respnd and helpful as well.
I absolutely recommend reaching out to Jim if needed, my experience was that he answered very quickly.

The issue I had in this case was one stick where the left/right stopped working.
the physical movement left/right feels different on that stick now as well, so my suspicion, without actively opening it, is that the magnet or similar may have gotten dislodged internally.

The team have arranged a new stick to come out, so hopefully I can disassemble this stick and have a look once it's swapped out.

I'm about to order replacement Joy-Con sticks. On Amazon there's 'GuliKit NS40T TMR', B0DTCW92NL. On the AKNES Store on AliExpress there's a 'HALLPI TMR Joystick'. Which one is the better choice?
