This just came in (I caught this on Twitter (LOL!));
Half Byte Loader (BETA/SVN) Compiled Just For You
So, in short,
lecture.gif
this allows you to run homebrew on all PSPs on all 6.20 OFWs by using a hacked save data of Patapon 2 (Pata Pata Pata Pon).
But,
lecture.gif
this is a small eLoader. This will only run you to aloow small homebrew, like PSP Trivia, Simpleturn, PSPuzzle, etc. Keep it at that.

Hm... I could've sworn that there were PSP emoticons...

meh, pretty uninteresting if it can't be used to flash a CFW or even just pirate games....
Its only in beta stage, what you expect it to wipe your ass already?

It'll never be used to flash a CFW. Go find something less expensive to break.

ChickHEN started off a just running Homebrew, presumably it started at this small stage too!!
Keep your hair on and wait.

Edit: 1000th Post

ChickHEN still only runs just Homebrew and no ISO's...

Technically, CFW is considered Homebrew, right? I mean, you have to activate ChickHEN first before you activate GEN... so... who knows! Mebbe there might be CFW for this firmware soon!

Correct. The 5.03 partial CFWs were made possible by the ability to load software in user mode, where they then could use a privilege escalation attack to gain root access to the device and make it load the CFW. So this is the first step to a CFW.

Ok, im really confused, the files i downloaded dont contain an EBOOT, it comes wit eloader folder, SDK folder, and .svn folder, i just copied all of the folders to my memory stick, but the Patapon demo still only wants to load the exploit save, could someone break this all down for me?

You can run ISOs using Gen from ChickGen. Hopefully they make something like that for the Go so you can run CFW without flashing.

Anyways, since there are ms0 issues I imagine PSP Filer won't work

Oh awesome! The PSP CFW scene might be back soon!
Ya, then maybe I can use it for more than music, internet, and video.

Until you can run games that aren't from the PS store the PSP Go is just a media center and not a gaming device.

Could someone please help me, I kno its kind of annoying to hear from someone twice, but I just dont understand what to do.

So just extract the HBL archive to your memory stick root, copy the homebrew’s EBOOT.PBP (sample included) to the root, start the Patapon 2 demo as normal, then load the hacked save. It’ll either a) load the homebrew, or b) crash. In most cases the latter.

What exactly do you want this for anyway? There's hardly any point in using it since it's so limited at the moment?

Well, when they eventually get around to updating it, all i hav to do is update thearchive, and the HBL archive? I have the eLoader, .svn, and SDK folders in the root of my memory stick and that doesnt work, I also tried putting the source folder in the root, which just contains the folders above, what exactly is the archive? Sorry, Im still really new to this

The topic title is misleading. It's not pre-compiled so you'll need to do it yourself, which i'm guessing you won't be able to.

You'd gain nothing even if you could compile it anyway since it's so limited, so it's best just to put this to one side as an interesting development.
