Hi what is a good amount of free space to leave for save states? Currently I have around 200 games with 193.8mb/232.7mb used. Thats 39.9mb free, is this ok?

Well, if you use canoe, 4 save-states for 1 game take 8mo, so technicaly, even with 10 more games it would be too much if you want 4 saves for every games.
With Retroarch, a save-state takes something like 800ko.
That's the info you need to see what suits you. :)

You need to consider that every savestate is about 2-2.2 MB, so with 40 MB of free memory you can store about 20-18 savestates... with the "extra space" module you can add 50 MB of unused NAND memory to store the savestates, but, in this case, I didn't understand well if also the "standard" free NAND memory may continue to be used to store the savestates...

mmh reduce the rewind time saves space too or deactivate it

jepp i use the normal dual boot version too.
i add games to it and like you said it works like a folder

I'm still trying to figure out the best way to do this(add games to the NES side). What have you figured out Liriel that makes it work like a folder. Thanks again.

The kernels are named different for each system in the dump folder

Also, the games folders are different too:

Games = NES games
Snes_games = SNES games

Why thank you. :) So if I want the same games on both classics... does this mean Ill have to have 2 copies of the same game??

I found the problem myself :) My SNES Mini don't like No-Intro roms... I downloaded a diffrent pack, and now everything works great! :)
This is a problem hopefully can be fixed because its generally better to use no-intro roms because other dumps might have other problems associated with them, glitches, bad dumps etc. Nointro are supposed to be very clean roms.

Hopefully Cluster's program can detect and patch roms to give them proper ids in the future to work with canoe? The only big issue is prevent Canoe from forcing its own 'auto-patching' for epilepsy on certain games....

Not a good idea to fully deactivate it... accidently going into the rewind feature will crash the console from what've read? Better to to just reduce its recording to as short as possible 1-2 seconds or so?

Even then, I read somewhere in the topic that it doesn't reduce the filesize?

Firstly great work to all those involved in getting hackchi2 to run so well!

I just have a question around getting ROM hacks such as Mario kart R and Metroid Redesign to work. When I load these ROMs I get a black screen and sent back to the game menu..is it possible to get these hacks to run in canoe or do I need to install retroarch?

How do I deactivate rewind?
delete this " -rollback-snapshot-period 600"

only when you use rewind.
but time sould reduce it too

the filesize is smaler when its only 10seconds.
the filesize is 0 when you not play the game and not take free space.

I know a couple of folks were interested, so here's a mod to convert the Super Famicom UI language from Japanese to English. It makes no other UI changes at all, nor does it offer language selection...all it does is change Japanese to English for the UI itself (not the included games, obviously).

Probably it would be very useful an option that allows to reduce/deactivate rewind time for all games or for a select bunch of them... I have my fingers crossed to see the function in a next hakchi2 release! :)

PS: I presume you need to decrease the "period" value to reduce the rewind time... am I right? :)
