Official hakchi2 - NES Mini very simple pimp tool

Hakchi Helping Hand worked great for me. I have 500+ NES games and it netted me about 30MB of free space.

I'm really happy with 2.14 right now. Don't see much of a reason to upgrade just yet.

Thanks to version 2.15 I almost finished to setup my 2 minis (one for Neogeo+Mame, the other for 8 & 16 bit consoles).

The final touch would be:

- It is possible (or it will be possible) to overclock the NES mini CPU & GPU like we can do in Raspberry Pi?

- If anybody can make work the CRT-PI.glslp and CRT-PI-CURVATURE.glslp shaders in the mini... it would be awesome; I'm missing a lot the CRT look that they achieve.

- Sometimes when I save/load in MAME, I end with no sound... is this a bug? Is something that I can fix with retroarch options?

- Will we be able to increase the space available (it would be fine for me with just 200/300 MB more on each of my minis!) with USB-otg without soldering?

the Helping Hand seems to be a nice tool, but for me the SMS Games are still working, but all my NES Games wont work. :-/

NES Games, if you press start then the screen gets black, but it goes back to the desktop instead of loading the game, if i load the core due to retroch arch it works fine.

I have the same issue.

I added the "use nestopia" hmod and loaded it through retro arch and still not working for NES games. What steps in RetroArch did you do to make NES games work? Thanks.

This was posted on reddit by a good member on here. Have used it and it works amazing. Freed up some enough space to add neo geo shock troopers and a couple other neo geo games I wanted just by compressing the NES games and others that were not compressed.

Just curious, has anyone had issues playing Decap attack? I can't get it to run right (plays like how it used to when I'd put the cartridge in my Nomad).

Also, I heard about issues with the SNES star fox. Anyone have any tips to get it running at best quality possible?

4) I found Yoshi ran fine on both SNES hmods (05 & 10). Not sure how it worked for others though.

5) I added zipped Snes and Genesis games to hakchi. After hakchi "rezips" them in the program to .7z I would also delete whatever extension the game had before .7z as well as anything with "." in the title. I couldn't even get Ken Griffey Jr. to load until I deleted all the periods found before the .7z. I also had to delete the extensions from the games in the "game" folder where the hakchi program saves them in.

Hopefully that made sense. Lol

So far I've had fairly good success after a lot of trial and error yesterday (I just kept messing with settings and methods until stuff worked).

However, my only problem spot now is with arcade/MAME games. I keep trying different cores but still can only get a low percentage to work. I can get games like The Simpsons and NEO GEO games to work and 1941/42/43 but not much else.

Had trouble getting one FDS game to play that I finally got going which is The Mysterious Murasame Castle. I applied the newer English patch and remapped the buttons in retroarch (using nestopia) to load the game but is there a way to convert the file to play without having to use retroarch? Like the FDS games Vs. Excitebike, SMB: The Lost Levels & Miracle of Almana (Arumana no Kiseki). It's not a big deal but I figure it would be easier since I'm assuming I'd have to redo the mapping process each time I upgrade hakchi/retroarch.

Btw, there's a bug, as it doesn't add the prefix to the path in the .desktop file.

e.g. Exec=/bin/nes /usr/share/games/nes/kachikachi/CLV-H-ZUDTD/CLV-H-ZUDTD.nes.7z
vs. Exec=/bin/nes /CLV-H-ZUDTD/CLV-H-ZUDTD.nes.7z

You'll probably need to add that manually, or do like what I did using https://findandreplace.codeplex.com, or just wait until the tool gets updated.

Thanks for the tips. Will wait for bug fix. I have about 270 NES roms. I can't imagine changing the command line arguments for all of them individually.

Do you have a neogeo bios installed? With mame games you need neogeo.zip bios.

I have done the connection, changed usb, reinstalled hakchi 2.15, deleted games on the screen and I cant get past the "waiting" small menu. Please HELP!!!! To my knowledge all the games and artwork are ready to upload.

I assume your using windows..Do you have windows defender turned off and anti-virus disabled?

That's cause what you did is wrong. You need to download simpsons.zip and simpsn2p.zip and combine them and name it simpsn2p and upload it and use mame2003 as command

Good catch..lol..I missed it..plus he needed a neo bios as well!
