Before I start, please don't harass me as I'm new to the Wii (literally, like only 8 days). I'm not too tech savvy (a little bit I suppose).

Okay, first I thought I would get my Nintendo Wii (which I bought this Boxing Day) and get it modded from some guy with a Wii Key 2. That seemed all good and stuff, was willing to pay the one time fee of $70. Also, I'm on 3.3U ( I checked it in the Wii Settings, and I did not update to 3.4U).

But recently, I've heard people saying softmod lets you play back-up games (and online too I think). And that you can't mod chip a 3.3U+ (well, not yet anyways). And then there is the Twilight Hack (which I know a little about, like using a hacked save with a original copy of the game and something like that). So what I should I do, seriously? And please be, easy to read (lol). And if you point me to the list of tutorials, please tell me which one exactly (and why). And should I just get The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess instead of the mod chip (it's also cheaper, hopefully its v2 from BestBuy, should be anyways...) and then do the Twilight Hack. Help needed!! lol

Mainly, I want to play back-up games, homebrew and all that stuff is fine too as long as I can play back-up games (hopefully from other regions too if possible, if not, I'll just change the region to NTSC-U with regionfrii). How?

    Thanks!

P.S. Also, just to make sure, the full game title is The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (for the Twilight Hack).
I also have an original copy of Super Smash Brothers Brawl so yeah. I don't have a gamecube controller but I could probably borrow one (if I even need it, read somewhere, I forgot though cause I read alot of stuff).

Edit: If I go with the Twilight Hack, can I just use it once and that's it or do I have to use it every single time? I'm saying this because I might just borrow it from a friend.

I agree .. when you know what you're looking for.

Edit: Also, do I need to always have The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess with me or can I just use it once.

Do I need Wi-Fi connection throughout the process (and for the Homebrew Channel?).

    No.

And if you have a modchip, why do you want to use a softmod?

I have a modchip and I believe that it beats a softmod everyday of the week. The compatability is near perfect and you do not have to mess around with settings before you load the game. You just put in and play.

So, if I get the mod chip (Wii Key 2), every thing should be fine, and can I still perform the Twilight Hack and get the HBC channel that way?

Like what are the disadvantages of mod chip as opposed to softmod.

Anyways, what are the benefits of the HomeBrew Channel anyway?

IF you could read a little bit over wiibrew.org, that may helps you understand:
1)the twilight hack lets you execute any .dol/.elf file in you SD
2)IF the .dol on the root of your SD happens to be the Homebrew Channel installer, you don't need the twilight hack again (almost)
3)Once you read at wiibrew.org most of the aplicacions and twilight hack and HBC (Homebrew Channel), you can (if you have a little of experience in computers) understand how it works, what can you do with it, and what you need to run backups.
4)the backup tools are here, but first READ ALL YOU CAN AT wiibrew.org

    cheers..!!! [IMG]

This is what I'm thinking of doing, getting the mod chip (Wii Key 2).

Then, is it possible to get the Homebrew Channel still, without doing the Twilight Hack, because then I might as well do a softmod. Also, about all the homebrew apps and stuff, are they played from the Wii or from the SD card because the Wii memory would eventually run out, right?

Also, it seems a mod chip is better and more reliable than the softmod. Am I right about this? I want the more reliable method, which one is that. And I did check out wiibrew.org

Edit: It seems that the Twilight Hack is the only safe way for installing the HBC. Then shouldn't I just go with the softmod? Or can I play those emulators through a DVD or SD card or something.

P.S. I think I'm understanding more of it now.
