Hacking Hacking a 4.3U wii

I'm trying to hack my Wii so that it can read backup copies of my discs.
I tried using LetterBomb with it (it is a 4.3U version), but it will only install BootMii as IOS. What is the difference if I install it as IOS instead of installing it as Boot2?
Is it 100% impossible to install BootMii as Boot2 on my Wii? (Again, it says it can ONLY install it as IOS, because Boot1 doesn't allow it.)
By the way, do I install HBC as boot, or IOS?

What do I need to run a game using a back up loader? (Preferably from disc, not USB.)

New'ish wiis can only have bootmii as IOS. Theres nothing you can do about it.
bootmii@boot2 is better in many areas, but as long as you dont brick the Wii by doing something you shouldnt, it doesnt matter much.


Ive heard neogamma is good for dvd backups. But I dont know, since me and everyone else with a black, red or white wii after autumn -09 cant play backup dvds unless we change the dvd drive (curse you, d3-2!)

As far as I know, I bought mine around january or february of 2009, so I guess mine is still eligible to run dvd backups, am I right?
Do I need to "install" the trucha bug to install NeoGamma? If so, then I will get to it right now.

good to go. only thing you need is d2x. and hbc is a channel!

So, the steps are:

1.- Install HBC and BootMii
2.- Install the Trucha Bug
3.- Install NeoGamma

Then I can load backups?

just follow modmiis guide. then grab neogamma
it has d2x in it.
type in the main page m followed buy you system menu version and region.
use the guide that pops up and then softmod ur wii.
then grab neogamma from modmiis download page 2

Correction. The D2X cIOS is what is needed for the USB to launch games. The D2X cIOS is not needed for the USB Loader to be installed.

I'm not so much trying to correct you as much as I am trying to make sure the OP has the correct info so he may not get confused.

Juuuust finished modding the Wii. It is working fine atm.
