Right now I am working on a little chat application for the HBL called HackChat. Right now it is little more than a keyboard, but I decided to create a thread anyway to keep track of my progress. Screenshot:

Test it out for me if you could. And yes, I am aware that shift doesn't work, it hasn't been implemented yet.

Interesting, network would be amazing and custom servers.

OwO Amazing! i'll keep an eye on this. :)

Also, a Cia version would be better. :D

-Edit-
When you type a lot, the letters get messed :P also, some keys do not work. I can't wait to see how it goes, good luck! :D

Apparently, websockets are more complicated than I thought. I haven't given up though, just been plugging away for about 3 days and have nothing to show for it. I can get local network to work, so I might make that an option later on.

You can better focus on regular sockets, web sockets use a different handshake, and are way more complicated then regular sockets.

I could see this being pretty useful.

Would there be a way of linking it to the 3DS friend list or something (With he option just to add people too)?

Hell, maybe some sort of really, really hacked version of the browser would be good, as you could then boot it while games and apps are open, but I highly doubt that's possible without replacing the browser itself lol.

a little update: now i have got it submitting and receiving messages finally. websockets are no joke. i finally think the worst is behind me though, check out my crappy little demo (attached) which is connected to this websocket chat: http://protected-river-61287.herokuapp.com/

You should add a check to the site. It doesn't check if the value of the name or the message is null/empty.

Fixing now. Good point, i keep accidentally hitting enter twice and sending blank messages.

UPDATE: v0.8 is here! Now its a functioning chat!
In the future could you make a cia version? xD

I've been trying! I'm thinking about posting the source on github so that somebody more experienced might be able to do it. I can't figure out what to put in the RSF file. I made it with a CIA version in mind, it is self sufficient and doesn't use any external files.

Don't forget MapleIRC works, if I remember correctly. They love stupid question on there and you can ask them directly from your 3DS. :yay3ds:
MapleIRC was dead last I checked, and there was no way to switch servers without going into the sd card and editing a text file.

I'd kill for a fully functioning IRC client. It just seems that every time one gets developed to a proof of concept state it dies before becoming feature complete.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind one. I'm not too worried about it, though. I'd only use it to annoy p1ngpong or something.
