Hmm, that could be possible. A bit frustrating though as it's not mentioned anywhere on the site that non-UK character encoding isn't accepted.

What would that help?

to me it just makes the letters larger, but still the same

and kirlac: It's not a decoy, everyone are reporting if you search for the password on google that it is the correct one. :/

I don't know if this has anything to do with it but . . .
did anyone notice the image is actually a jpeg image with a .gif extension

EDIT: OK then, I hadn't resorted to searching google, so didn't know. Wonder why it isn't working then.

^ Well that explains it
thought the pixels around the words meant something, but they are there because of the jpg -> gif conversion

Yeah, there is some sort of problem with encoding. Ended up Googling it just to find out.

Lvl 10 was wrecking my head anyway!

Found a workaround, go on hackertest.net. It's the same levels, except that the seventh works

Uh... How do you find
Code:
window.document.alinkColor
?
in your adress bar type javascript:alert(varHere);

eg. javascript:alert(window.document.alinkColor);

QUOTE(metamaster @ Nov 8 2010, 09:10 AM) Did you actually try it?

Not likely, this test is a much more simplified form of a site that used to exist between 1997-2004, before the FBI had the site shut down because it was "training hackers". This test really is little more than an educational tool, although it does help you discover the little tricks and clues some webmasters leave in their own websites. Most companies have a much more rigid gateway security, so these tricks won't help any hacker get through.

Although it does give me a sense of nostalgia. I stopped at level 10, although in the old site I could only get a third of the way through. I never did manage to beat encryption locking...

Maybe you've got the wrong password? You can use the other site too, but just do level 7 in the second one (copy the url)

This has to be one of the worst examples of a hacking game website.
Honestly, it's no wonder people like Eric Douglace exist... >_>

"Look for a PhotoshopDocument!"
Yes, I'm an elite hacker, I can change the file extension to phat.psd.
GENIUS.
