You're going to have to provide more info.
Well I read on another thread,
"your sysnand must be on 9.0 - 9.2.
set up menuhax using another exploit: Latest release (or download the latest homebrew starter kit)
then check out CtrBootManager. put it as boot.3dsx at the root of your microSD card.
edit boot.cfg to add GW.3dsx (or whatever it's called) to the list.
alternatively, you might be able to just use GW.3dsx as a boot.3dsx, but CtrBootManager is a better idea if you want to go into different things at "boot"."
I'm using menuhax_manager v2.1, and it gives me an error when trying to install menuhax.
But also, when I just go into the homebrew channel, and select the Gateway 3DSX, it just black screens on me.
hmm.. Try deleting the gw.3dsx file and putting it back on the sd card? Also, try the ironhax method if nothing else works. I find that it works much better for myself, If you can get the 1.0 version that is. For menuhax, did you set a theme on the home menu? You need to select a theme in order to have menuhax install.
I get error code "0xd8a0a046" when trying to run menuhax_manager_2.1
Eh... IDK why GW.3dsx brings me to a black screen
This is what I found about your errorcode get the ropbin according to your fw and system:http://smealum.github.io/3ds/#otherapp rename it menuhax_ropbinpayload.bin, replace with same file on root! and To get apps included on new updatehttps://smealum.github.io/ninjhax2/starter.zip, dont overwite your 3ds folder, copy the ones inside.
Oh yes. The payload. Whoops!
- So if I do this, will it install menuhax to my emunand or my sysnand? They're not linked btw
That depends. Are you using the homebrew launcher on sysnand or emunand? Which ever one you use it on is what it will install to. If on sysnand. use the new webkit exploit by yls8 to enter the hbl and install menuhax.
Ehrm. Okay so I'm using Emunand. So if I install it using the menuinstaller thing, when I turn my 3DS on, it'll auto boot to emunand?
If you do what I said about installing it to sysnand yes. If you install to emunand, no. But it seems that you aren't the only person having this issue with the black screen. A few of my friends have also runinto this problem. It's most likely because gw did a crap job with the 3dsx file.
Yeah, the menuhax didn't work. Ah well. I'll just wait for gateway to fix their shit. Thanks guy!
Gateway, they can never release anything stable. It's always a "beta" with them.
I am under the impression that people black screening with GW.3dsx are trying to run it from within emunand.
GW.3dsx will not run if your firmware is higher than 9.2, and it will not run if you are in CFW even if your emunand is 9.2 or lower.
You must run it from within clean sysnand. Meaning, power on 3DS, use your preferred homebrew launcher entry point from sysnand to run homebrew launcher, then run GW.3dsx
CTRBootManager or other such boot managers can also be used to run GW.3dsx as long as it is running from clean sysnand mode. I have added an entry for GW Launcher in my CTRBootManager boot.cfg, and by holding L on power on, after the *hax debug screen, I am sent to CTRBootManager menu where I can run GW.3dsx just fine.
You could also rename GW.3dsx to boot.3dsx and replace homebrew launcher entirely.
I don't even do any of this all I did was replace the hbl boot.3dsx with Gateway and I just hold L to launch Gateway or nothing for Sysnand.
If I were you, I wouldn't use CtrBootManager. It gave me lots of troubles with Masher's. I think it has some kind of file size limit, so you'd rather boot it from the Homebrew Launcher.
Are your emuNand and Sysnand unlinked? If they are linked then it will show the black screen..
I occasionally get a black screen launching GW using the 3dsx but then I just reboot and it works fine so.....
If I recall the launcher was never that stable to start with
Do we need launcher.dat on root of SD? My friend has this black screen problem with GW.3dsx . H doesn't have GW launcher.dat on root of SD. O3DSXL 9.2.0-20U
Well duh you need the launcher how will you load the Gateway menu lol
NVM. Thought the GW.3dsx is self-sufficient like the bootmanager boot.3dsx. Thanks for quick answer.
