3. You should use the search button.

4. There is already a thread about this and it's on the first page of this section, you don't even need the search button.

5. Stop using all Caps.

6. Click this if you really want to know something about your question.

I created this post because I'm already bored in the songs of guitar hero.....
Thanks again!!!!

Well, I do have a code on my hands for bypassing the grip check.

I could probably create an ABXY hack if there's any interest in one.
Edit: Screw it, I'm bored.

SERIOUSLY!!!!DON'T PEOPLE EVER USE THE SEARCH BUTTON PLUS THE TOPIC IS ON THE FIRST PAGE....

Anyways.....
The people who tried to add songs to the game managed to unpack the whole thing, but they never managed to repack it. It was something along the lines of a .gob packer....So don't get your hopes up, because chances are, there won't be custom songs for a while....

It wasn't the issue or unpacking or even changing them for the previous games ..It was the fact that no one could RE COMPILE THEM into GOB files that the game needed!

apparently its changed for modern hits and they just need to recompile their chart editor or something I read somewhere ...(possibly in the old thread on changing the old games tracks!)

So we can't say...get hold of the EU/UK version of GHOT Modern Hits, unpack it, take out the files for the exclusive songs like 'See you at the bitter end' by Placebo, 'In the Shadows' by Rasmus, etc.

Then add those into the US rom so I don't have to waste another 130MB just for half a dozen tracks.

If that is indeed possible, then we should do it for all three games in the series so we can have our pick of the tracks.

What exactly is the problem with repacking the files anyway?

as above if nothings changed they need to be recompiled into GOB format which is kinda a compressed archive but no one has figured out or written or found a program that can pack them back into a GOB format file!

Decades and Modern Hits do not use the GOB file. The guitar and rhythm for each song are in OGG. The vocals/main song are in a .HWAS file which is a type of ADPCM format. You can play back HWAS files using a sound player that can play VOX ADPCM at 20000Hz (after chopping off the header section from the file).

Vicarious Visions apparently used a similar sound format in their Marvel Ultimate Alliance game. There was a lot of investigation to replace sounds in that game - see marvelmods.com forum. I think they used the Xbox ADPCM codec to create new sounds.

actually that HWAS is the main track (vocals/drums/ect)
*edit* - woops, it seems that skaman has already posted that. now that we have info on hwas, i'm gonna have a real good look at the fret files.
Before having a guess i would suggest having a decent look at the files inside the rom.

For notes look into the main folder: e.g
TheMetal_gems_bass_easy.qgm

INFO:
TracksUS/_.ogg = guitar/bass track in ogg vorbis format
TracksUS/_song.hwas = The actual song
_gems_.qgm = quitar frets
_gems_bass_.qgm = bass frets
_sections_.qb = section (e.g Intro 1, Big Screamy Metal Part.)
_timesig.qsig = time signature (the hex is 0404 and a lot of songs are written in 4/4 time.)
The Tracklist is kept in the arm9 file.

bin=images (probably)

the rest are even more self explanitory.

i might make a new topic with all this data in it. but seeing as most of it is self explanatory, i probably won't.

Why? No one ever frets something worth playing/listening to.

why what music r u into?

and if no-one else likes it you could just tab it yourself.
