Gaming Grr...

After replacing my screen there is a gap between the silver and the black face-plate. Did I miss some screws or something?

You could always try taking it out and putting it back it.

Seems like something isn't layered right, maybe try Tightening some of the screws you put in first.

I've already reset the faceplate 5+ times, I can't seem to figure out whats wrong. If anything it should be laying closer the the body because there is no foam around the screen.

Maybe the LCD you replaced is oversized?

Are you like sure it's even a PSP 1000 LCD?

If it wasn't it wouldn't be working

PSP 1000, 2000, and 3000 all have their own different screen

When I had my psp apart, I managed to bend the little metal piece that sits under the analog stick and next to the screen, and the case wouldn't close properly.

I'm not saying that is your exact problem, but my point is, simply that you may have bent or otherwise don't have everything together properly. Even if things are in the right places, you may have warped a bracket, or not put a cable in correctly. It doesnt take much to make it all not fit together properly.

I'd go back and just triple check that everything is not bent, and possibly even look up a psp tear down guide, or watch a couple vids on youtube. Never know when you might find something you overlooked.
