I'm not sure if there are any rules against "recommend me some games" posts, so I'm sorry if this breaks any of them.

Hello, GBATemp! My birthday is coming soon, so I wanted to ask for any games you all would recommend.

In terms of my tastes, I like the following genres:

-Turn based RPGs (EX: Persona 5 Royal, Persona 4 Golden, Final Fantasy 6, Pokemon Scarlet, Pokemon Sun, and Deltarune)

-Action based RPGs (EX: The World Ends With You, Neo: TWEWY, Scarlet Nexus, and Xenoblade Chronicles)

-Visual Novels (EX: Danganronpa 1 and Danganronpa 2)

-Platformers (EX: the Sonic series, the Super Mario series, and Geometry Dash)

-Sandbox Games (EX: Terraria, Grand Theft Auto, and Minecraft)

I do not like the following types of games:

-Free to play games.

-Online multiplayer focused games.

-Live service games.

-Cloud ports.

Please take these things into account when giving me recommendations.

Thanks in advance!

My personal favorite comfort games are graphic adventures
Apart from the very popular Telltale & Life is Strange games, I would recommend indie title Alfred Hitchcock: Vertigo, and Nintendo's Another Code: Recollection. Vertigo was very heavy at times, trigger warning etc, but it was one of my favorite games to play.

Pizza Tower released on there pretty recently, I thought it was a pretty good game
It's a spiritual successor to the Wario Land games
I've heard of it and I look forward to it. Thanks!

All of those sound nice, I'll look into them!

Sonic Generations
(and Shadow Generations, which is SO FREAKING AWESOME)
And The Henry Stickmin Collection is peak fiction

Xenoblade Chronicles 1 (Definitive) and 2 are fantastic; if you get through both of them, only then would I recommend XC3. XC: DE and XC2 are among my favourite Switch games, bar none; great narratives and characters, visually beautiful locations, fun combat.

Pikmin 3 HD and Pikmin 4 are excellent, too. Very easy to play in multiple bursts instead of multi-hour gaming sessions, thanks to the ~13 min days, too, and P3HD allows you to rewind time if you want to redo a day. Pikmin 4 allows you to scroll back to checkpoints during each day - for example if you were surprised by an enemy or hazard and lost a lot of Pikmin, you don't have to redo the entire day.
The locations present in both games are also visually stunning, despite being limited by the Switch's ageing hardware.

Visual novels, eh? Have you tried 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim? Or Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective (this one's available on Steam; not an exclusive)? Both games are very well-written and memorable, with great twists and turns - I won't spoil either, except to say that everything's not as it seems on the surface in either game.

Of course, there's also the only good high-quality Legend of Zelda game on this platform - Link's Awakening. A wonderful remake of a Game Boy game, that really breathes new life into this timeless classic with its brand-new visuals. It still retains the excellent dungeons and world of Koholint Island, but uses the increased button count to reduce the tedious menuing of the original classic. Stellar work, here, and something I'd recommend to anyone wanting to play a Legend of Zelda game; it's got all the heart and soul of Legend of Zelda, along with all the charm.

(The other Legend of Zelda games? None are as fun or captivating or replayable as Link's Awakening, IMHO; I'd never recommend BotW/TotK, EoW, or Skyward Sword, for their own reasons, and you'd have to pay up for NSO to get the NES/SNES/N64 games, which is stupid)
