Another alternative to OpenDNS. Now to pick the lesser of two evils...

Announcement

Info

DNS servers are below.

8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

Anyone intend to use them? I've switched just to try them and out of curiosity. So far they are speedy.

Why should you try Google Public DNS?

By using Google Public DNS you can:

* Speed up your browsing experience.
* Improve your security.
* Get the results you expect with absolutely no redirection.
So what's the catch?

You sell your soul to Google. I sold mine years ago, so I have nothing to lose.

On a more serious note, I suppose they could track your usage, what sites you visit etc. That information must be worth money.

I've got no real reason to use Google's DNS or OpenDNS. The DNS provided with my ISP is really good actually.

I doubt there is one. Google can make a lot of money in the long run by analyzing the web browsing patterns. DNS service for you, free research data for them.

OpenDNS is getting me pings in the mid 20s while Google's DNS is getting me pings in the low 30s. OpenDNS it is

Never thought of pinging them to see which responds better. I get on average about 33-34ms on both, which makes it that bit harder to choose.

I only have a use for them at school, where the dns is slow as hell, and filtered (oddly not ip filtered, pointing a cname at a site makes it accessable :D )
