Hey, I am looking for a good sound recording program (Free would be nice, but hopefully I can get it from somewhere for free, if you know what I mean).

I just set up my basement with all my instruments and stuff. I have a guitar, a bass, a really nice bass amp, an electric drumset, and I'm getting a pretty good guitar amp within the next few weeks.

I just installed Windows XP on my pretty old laptop, and I have a microphone that I want to record with to make some rough demos just to show my band before learning the song or whatever.

Well, since I'm playing all three instruments, I'm looking for a sound recording program that I can record the three instruments in layers. I tried Google, but it came up with all these ridiculous programs that probably aren't even real. I don't need it to edit the sound clips themselves, just to put them all together (Something like Garageband, I guess?).

    Thanks.

Thanks. I was kind of looking for someone that experience with some of these programs, but I guess this will do.

    Thanks a lot, man.

+1 to this. I like Audacity but then I only use it for 'simple' things.

I'd go with Ableton Live ,
I myself use Fruity Loops studio and i'm kinda sad that I didn't study ablteon right ahead , don't go with my mistake and go Ableton Live 7 straight away! [IMG]
