Ah the classic, I've lost my save data and can't be fucked to do it all over again.
I got that with FF8, got half through the second disc i think and some program i ran fucked up the MS. Last backup i had was the end of the first disc..

That's especially brutal with FF8. I mean the game itself is good, but the beginning of the 2nd disc always tests my patience. Worst. Disc. Ever.

Or if you read the posts beforehand...
I already have a DS with EZ3-in-1 therefore capable of running GBA games plus i am not terribly fond of the FF series although i did have 8 for a short period of time.

There arent many good rpgs for psp. Really, get a GBA emulator, then you'll be able to play a lot of good rpgs.

But, if you don't mind playing a japanese game... you can try Classic Dungeon: Fuyoku no Masoujin. You need any of this CFW to get it to work and a patched iso:
PSP-1000?5.50 GEN-D2?5.00 M33-6
?PSP-2000?5.00 M33-6?5.03 GEN-C for HEN
?PSP-3000?5.03 GEN-C for HEN ?

There's Crisis Core though you might not like it if you don't like FF games. It uses an ARPG combat system with random encounters.
If you like hack and slash then definitely Crisis Core.
Its a great game, check it out.

Yes... Crisis Core is a great game...
Whats so funny?
Everyone has their own opinions.
Crisis Core is very adictive,I must have played it for like a year or so, and I beat Minerva with my fist LOL

Monster Hunter, it takes a hell of a time to get used to it, but you'll love it when you do(and hate it deeply on some missions)
Crisis core
.Hack//Link(only in japanese and really its good mainly for fans since its a huge story with novels, anime and other games involved)

They're kinda obvious (most of the time they are large areas) so I wouldn't call it random
