Goldeneye's multiplayer is mediocre at best.
MPH has the most customization options as well as game modes, so I'd go with that.
Call of Duty 4 is also fun if you're looking for some simple, fast-paced action. BiA is also decent in that aspect.
Overall though, Metroid has my vote due to its varied gameplay. It is much less repetitive than the other FPSs.

Although the aiming is a bit sluggish, you could try MechAssault. Other than that, I love FPS's on the DS and have played Goldeneye, MPH, BiA, and CoD4. I did not know Bionicle was an FPS though. Are there any other FPS's, even if they suck, that I did not know of?

Hey guys! My buddies and I have been on a multiplayer addiction since we finally all had flashcarts. We really loved playing Metroid Prime 2 Echoes on the Gamecube, and have been looking for good first person shooters for the DS. We didn't really like MPH too much because of the waggling crosshair, but we did happen to love Call of Duty 4. Do you guys have any other games to suggest for local multiplayer first person shooting? Thanks!

BTW, are we the only ones that think CoD4's shooting mechanics are better than MPH's?

I find CoD's shooting mechs. much complicated than MPH's.

Believe it or not, I really enjoy Bionicle Heroes. It's almost identical in gameplay to Metroid Prime Hunters (the engine may even be the same) and it's pretty fun. The graphics and sound are very nice as well. The only flaw is repetition, but it's a common flaw I see in most FPS'. I give it an 8/10

Call of Duty DS was a very good looking game with some nice variety in gameplay, but I beat the single player campaign in about 5 hours. Not very good on a lasting appeal. 7.5/10. They should develop the engine for it. It's one of the best on DS.

Dementium is a fun, but short and repetitive survival horror/FPS. It lasted me longer that COD DS, but it has some serious design flaws. Props go to exquisite graphics/sound and a creepy atmosphere. But the save system is trash (something that the devs have supposedly fixed for Moon) and the game is just too repetitive. There's not much variety (it IS a hospital) in design. If they make a sequel (possible), they should branch out from the hospital and enter forests, towns, and other good area types. As it stands, this gets an 8/10. This one proved to me that DS could handle awesome graphics and with spectacular dynamic lighting at a never-wavering 60 frames per second. Tight!

Brothers in Arms is a close comparison to a FPS. It's actually a 3rd person shooter, but the FPS gameplay is identical. It's very similar to COD DS, but the framerate issues were very annoying to me (it's a mobile phone port). There are also some weird glitches that annoyed me. I quit the game after about 50% into the game, so I can't give a solid critique of the game (as it would be unfair). If I had to rate it I'd give it a 7/10. But I've not experienced the whole game, so you may like it better.

I've never played Goldeneye DS, but everyone seems to think it sucks.

Metroid Prime Hunters I found the funnest overall of these games. It's received some criticism for being overhyped, but I ignored these claims and had indifferent expectations going into it. It's a very fun and nice looking game with a lot to do and an intuitive (but at first uncomfortable) control scheme. I give it a 9/10. I've only played the console Prime's at a friend's house, so this game seemed very fresh to me.

Noteworthy FPS' that are yet to be released are:

C.O.R.E. (reminds me of Half Life)
Moon (using a revamped version of Dementium's Renegade engine)
Gaming sites are saying that Call of Duty 5 will see a DS installment (I'm not sure the DS version is confirmed)
