Ok im in desperate need of a really good RTS PC Game (Price doesnt matter) preferably a newer game but if its old and really good ill take that into suggestion to

He's probably referring to links, FYI. Also, yes Tiberium Twilight is the newest but Red Alert 3 and Tiberium Wars are the two previous versions that aren't DRM'd to hell.

I absolutely love Starcraft and Company of Heroes. I play CoH with my brother every once in a while. It was a good deal on Steam(12.50 at the time). Make sure you get it off of Steam and not retail if you want to avoid patch hell.

*Sigh*, Starcraft is by far the best RTS game known, created 10 years ago and still played now. It's so popular in Korea it became an offical sport there. Many programers play the game, far more then any other rts game. Starcraft has balanced gameplay, between 3 races Zerg, Terran, and Protoss

Here is a link if your interested in Starcraft builds, tactics and other micro strategies. TeamLiquid

P.S. What makes Starcraft the best RTS game its not just about strategy, you need micro management (using your units to the fullest like hit n run and other )

Well, he did say he would prefer a newer RTS, obviously meaning Starcraft isn't exactly one. I did try a bunch of RTS demos at one point (SupCom, World in Conflict, and CoH) all at the same time, and coming from Starcraft and Warcraft, I liked CoH(Company of Heroes) the best. I should probably give some more games a go.

Starcraft 2 Beta is worth a shot, there's an AI crack that's pretty easy to find.
C&C4 was just released but from what I've gathered it's really different from the previous games so nobody likes it.

Well he did say they could be old if they were really really good, and starcraft is really really good

Why has nobody said Age of Empires 2 yet? Yeah it's old, but it's still great! Age of Empires 3 is good as well (and it's newer), but it's just not as good as 2.

I was just going to suggest this, best RTS game ever IMHO.

Also, Dungeon Keeper 2 is also old, but really funny and addicting.

hmm...

Sins of a solar empire
Homeworld 2
Nexus: the Jupiter incident
command and conquer series
total annihilation
supreme commander
perimeter

I never liked starcraft, RTS games should be about strategy not how many actions per second you can order ffs

aps is a part of real time strategy, starcraft doesnt fall under just strategy for that reason. how fast you can think and adapt to the situation translates to how fast you can respond, just apart of the game and part of the reason why its so popular. whats the point of having all these strategies but you're simply too slow to execute them all before your enemy attacks you? you don't see it mentioned in other games as any other rts is simply nowhere near as competitive.

as for other RTS games, age of empires and age of mythology were quite fun. supreme commander as well. the starcraft 2 beta is fun, until you figure the ai's strategies, the ai was quite limited last time i played it, only 3 or 4 different methods of harrassing and attacking. still a bit challenging if you're new to the game though.

I wonder, would Demigod be considered RTS? It might not consider nearly as much strategy as C&C or Starcraft, but it was pretty fun and pretty hectic at times.

Personally I find Dawn of War just as competetive as Starcraft, albeit only slightly slower. Even Age of Empires can be competetive, but even slower than DoW. It really just depends on your pace I guess.
